Tips for Baby Shower Registry
Registering for your baby shower can be a very exciting time. It can feel like a shopping spree at times, because you are not actually paying for anything. If you are anything like me, you will spend hours looking at all of the different items available. There was so much to choose from I started to get really confused on what I actually needed, versus what I wanted. Lucky for me, four of my friends just had babies, and they gave me some pointers on what to get. After going through the baby shower myself, I sure am glad they were there to help me make the best selections possible. The following is a couple of pointers, so you can get the most out of your baby shower.
Car seat with a detachable base
My parents had five kids, and had a high level of expertise when it came to raising babies. Unfortunately their tastes in car seats, were still a few decades old. They insisted I use their old car seat to help save some money. My parents pulled their old car seat out of the attic, and it was a hideous teal green. Just to humor them we attempted to put it in the car to see how it works. It was a nightmare! With the older model car seats, you have to use the seat belt to secure the car seat to the vehicle. We couldn’t figure it out, and it didn’t seem very safe. My friends had warned me about this, and suggested I register for a car seat that has a detachable base. The detachable base is secured to steel anchors behind the seat. This feature is a lot safer, and it is so much easier to remove, and insert the car seat. All you have to do to insert the car seat is drop the car seat on the base until it clicks into place. Then to remove it you just push the lever, and pull up on the car seat. I went with the Britax Marathon 70 Car Seat, and It was an excellent purchase.
Get a stroller and jogger compatible with your car seat
Chauffeuring your little one around can get very exhausting, and not to mention tiring. Every time you get in and out of the car you have take your baby out, and transport her. I am not a very strong girl, and it can be difficult to lift and move my daughter at times. My friends insisted I select a car seat that is also compatible with my jogger, and stroller. With this compatibility, all you have to do is pull out your stroller, and drop the car seat into place. This saves a ton of time when you are trying to go somewhere. The same thing goes for your jogger, with this compatibility you can just drop her car seat in place, and be on your way running. Before you make your purchase, you will want to go and read the product reviews for whichever car seat you are thinking of. With my friends recommendation, I went with the Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat, and I am a very happy camper. If you are not sure which one to go with, try checking out the Britax car seat. It has some very good reviews. Click here to read some of the reviews.
